Only did 68 miles on lots of rough trail, but was out for 10 hours including a picnic lunch for 30 minutes in an Aspen meadow…😎

Very nice! Whereabouts is that? General elevation? I have never spent much time in NM. Mostly just driving through on I-40! Looks like I need to check it out!

So this is in the Santa Fe NF, 20 miles west of Las Vegas and about 40 miles east of Santa Fe. We’re riding between 7,500 at my property to just short of 11,000 at that communications tower.

Yeah, 1-40 crosses the state in the high desert region of New Mexico which is also fun to ride in, having its own unique beauty. But this comparatively small portion of north central New Mexico has most of what Colorado has, save its 14ners (although we have 7 13ners) and water. The rivers exiting the southern tip of the Rockies are inferior to Colorado’s, but we have the white and blue spruce, Fir, lots of Ponderosa’s and a smattering of Scotch Pine, Bristle Cone, Englemann and Limber pines to name a few, as well as Quaking Aspen and Rocky Mountain Maple.

And then there’s the history, so by all means, give it a look someday…👍
