Getting loaded with camp gear to take the Blue Ox trail 62 miles to Big Falls. In my photo is a homemade bed extender with paint job by me. It’s all quite heavy as there is a 80 pound Kodiak Tent in front of full 40 qt Cooler and lawn chairs. The saw is light. Hope rear shocks do their level best. lol! Will post more later. Maybe of it all scattered down the trail. The green straps are to take the load off the tailgate cables.

We made it to our destination. Was a great ride! The Blue Ox Trail is nice. It has some woops that occasionally bottomed the front suspension but never did the rear shocks bottom out with 5 adults and a couple hundred pounds on the back. More later. :)

We are roasting a ham over the fire with potatoes and veggies for supper. On our way up to Big Falls we stopped in Black Duck and shopped at the annual Wood Carvers Festival. Below is family disputing the 5 min pop up. Lol!

Would take some work with my little stihl 180c to manage this tree by my tent. I walked it off and I am plenty far away. Big Falls Minnesota is a great little town to camp at. It has a general store, grocery store, liquor store/pub and gas station. Below is a pic of my tire parked on bed rock that forces you to set tent spikes sideways. Another pic of my jimmy rig bed extender. It is very solid there was never any tension on my gate cables the whole trip. Just love it here. After breakfast tomorrow we will check out some local trails.

Time to wrap up this story. Yesterday we were chased out of our campground early due to approaching thunderstorms. We rode in the rain for about half way home. We had a bear cub run out and down our trail ahead but no pics as it happened quick and we were on high alert for mother bear, very exiting! Discovered I’m getting about 20 mi per gallon using 91 no oxy gas with heavy load and 5 adults passengers. I eventually noticed my chainsaw dangling by a bungee cord and then noticed the floor pulling away, totally meant to screw the floor after tackling with finish nails. That’s very hard 5/8 marine plywood. Must have been same bump that kicked off the saw. And finally bottom pic shows us all home. Yes we have the only Hondas...and the only one that uses Orca coolers and get teased for both. Lol! I tell them I march to the beat of my own drum. Lol! I think my new son in law will be getting a new P1000-3 later in August when specials kick in. He’s a good boy. :D Thanks all for watching.

Make you a bed extender and use the trailer hitch to carry some of the Weight. Looks like a great ride and trip.

That is a great idea! I have been so exited about this project that I now would like to make a lighter version as it is quite heavy by itself. And also. After recalculating my gas mileage it may have been more like 13-15 mi per gallon. I’m very poor with math. Lol!
