Has anyone attempted to "chop the top" on a 700-4? This thing is 6'8" with 27" tires on it. I want to lift it but I'm already too tall to go in the garage and almost too y'all to keep it in my trailer.

I feel your pain! the 700 2p is also tall. just barley fits in my garage. The trouble with modifying it is that it's a engineered certified Roll Over Protection system and if you mess with it and something bad happens you'll be responsible and have no support, since it's a Safety issue. They could shorten it by 6" and it would still be fine, but I have my doubts that will happen. Sorry.

+1, I want to chop it too. Just don't have the skills or feel like paying someone to do it. Currently it likes 1/2 inch from not fitting in my garage. I want a roof but can't as it want fit.
I know the ROPS is "certified" but that does not make it strong. I have already seen a few bent cages. A custom cage can be built just as strong or better.

What's your plan? Do u just want to chop it or redesign all together.

Looks good,
Still pondering mine.
What did you use to reattach it?
Where you able to line the front braces up without any major tools?

1 7/16 bar 4 inches long to reattach and I was off on the drivers side back about an inch for some reason so a ratchet attached to the front and a small push it slid right down and snug.

Thanks! I liked it also, I used plasti dip from lowe's and after rubbing up on a tree I pulled it off tonight. Kinda what I liked about the plasti dip was how easy it is to pull off if your unhappy with the color.

Total cost if you have a friend that welds, was 30 dollars for the chop, 20 for the four 1 7/16 bar to go inside your roll bar to reattach and then 10 dollars for a can of black spray paint. I do have to cook a ribeye steak dinner for my friend who welded it if you want to include that in the price ;)

After I asked you about bending it.. I thought about it some and figured one could insert the front first then just allow it to bend on its own as the back was pulled in place.
Why did you choose a full bar insert vs just a pipe?

May just have to turn this into a spring project.

I guess my thinking was the welding, which I'm not a welder so I do not know about it. Thinking was not burning through another piece of pipe by using a solid bar. and thats what we did we started the front and went down with the back. All the research I had done watching mainly RZR people cut there backs was they were having alot of gap and having to pull the bar out to match the back again. This scared me enough to not start it and then on another forum I seen the first P4 chop, and he detailed very good on what he cut and where and how much. I think his cuts were 6 front, 7 middle and 6 back. So this got me thinking not alot of difference if any in the P2 and P4, I do like some people when I am bored and retreat to the Man Cave and sat in the chair looking at it, the next thing I know a tape measure is out and a grinder and the roof is in the floor. LOL I really do think when you go to put yours back on your gonna see with just a small push from another person it will all slide right down and into place and no bending at all to be done. We put a ratchet on and I think 2 clicks the rear fell in and that was only needed on the driver's side.

My only debate now is do I sell my factory full windshield and buy some from Lowes and make my own or do I cut the factory down? I have a factory Half windshield also, so thoughts are in my head put the half windshield on. Buy me some from lowes and buy the Quick Clamps I can get for like 7 dollars each and make a top half windshield. and put the factory full windshield up for sale.

Not a great Pic to Compare, funny how the camo looks different in this light. Bikini Shots have to wait til summer ;) Riding all day yesterday and the only thing bad about the Chop is I can't see riders behind me as easy as I was able too. I can still see them but just not as good. I also had to relocate my speakers due to we would hit our head. I mount them in the bed and left just enough wire for the bed to raise up.

I like it. You did a good job on figuring angles. If you aren't too tall, you probably still have more than enough headroom.

Hey @Tornador, what kind of seat belts are those and where did you get them? I'm want to do a custom cage and that will require eliminating the factory seat belt mount at the top so I'm thinking, great time to switch over to harness's like you have.
