My 2014 700-4 base on top of 9,500’ Mt. Siegel last year. With two people and gear it almost ran out of breath(floored) on the final steep 1/4 mile climb at that elevation.
Because of that I purchased a 2024 base 1000-5 a week ago. Only 13 miles on it so far. I just have the roof, windshield and seatbelt dongle installed. Rear windshield, heat insulation, seat covers, fox shocks, OEM under dash & under seat storage and spare tire carrier fabrication parts are in my workshop waiting for time to install. I prefer the base steel wheels for durability over aluminum wheels, not into beauty contests.

You are really going to like your new machine! I had the 700 for a year before I upgraded to the 1000-5 First thing I would do is check your toe in/out, second is remove the cat. the machine generates way less heat and the engine breathes easier

Did a little exploring in the high desert, love finding these old building, I would love to hear the history and stories behind it! So much land and so few people!

Man arrived to tame the land.
Land broke man.
Land consumed body of man.
End of story.

Just kidding. I love finding old mining camps or cowboy line camps, looking around in the rubble.
It's fascinating to try to picture life at the time.
And then it's cool to haul out a 50 mph and return to our spoiled life comforts. 👍👍

I have seen you fly/land near the horse troughs! My buddy and I thought you were crashing at first. We were amazed and what a coincidence to hear from the pilot. It was a day after the Reno Air Races two years ago.
My signature photo was taken at/in Buckeye Creek during the big runoff the winter before last with my wife’s girlfriend driving and my wife riding copilot in the 700 with her husband on his ATV. I was on my trusty old Foreman S.

@ToyMan ,

Have to claim innocence this time. 'Twasn't me near the horse troughs - In fact, I tend to give our wild horses a wide berth, no sense spooking them. I haven't flown my Husky in over 4 years, as the Moderna vaccine trashed my heart with myocarditis reducing heart function to 34%. With a pacemaker now, and back up to 50%, still no way is the FAA going to let me fly. I sold the Husky last week. The other aircraft (I had 5 at one point - which is entirely too many when you do most of your own maintenance) were sold previously. Kept the Husky as it was a lot of fun flying "off road". The Pioneer can go places the Husky never could - - - and vice versa of course.

In the pilot’s defense, he landed up the hill to the SW away from the troughs…..twice. You guys are FAR braver than me.
The 13 mile maiden voyage with the new 1000 was to take the wife to see the mustangs(we did) and the water troughs are not there anymore. Maybe they moved them somewhere else?
The ‘HOT’ seat issue became apparent on that first trip. It was noticeably worse than the 700 and the base 700 shocks are more compliant than the base 1000, hence the Fox purchase.

After reading your post I took a better look at the front end and I could visually see it toed-out and the steering wheel was not centered, ~30 degrees out to the left.
After adjusting the tie rods it now has 1/8” toe-in and a centered wheel
Thank you for the tip.
We took it out for it’s first real 30 mile trail run yesterday(87 degrees) with about a mile or so of slow mild rock crawling and with the newly installed insulation the interior temp was much better too. I will look into the cat next.
Thanks again.
