Howdy hive minds, first post here. I have a 2020 1000X4 LV with 32" tires. I had to do a frame swap due to a bent frame and I don't remember the turning radius being like a 1965 school bus. The steering rack did need to be replaced and I am wondering if the shop that did the rebuild ordered a rack for an R instead of an X. I can only get about a half a rotation out of my steering wheel from dead center to the left or to the right. I sat in a 2024 today (stock wheels and tires) and can get just about a full turn in either direction. Could an R rack possibly be the issue? Any other ideas? TIA

well this is interesting.......hmmmm

first we need before and after pictures of this supposedly frame swap - kinda a thing on here, all I got, SXS porn

besides the chassis swap - was anything else done, a-arms, wheels, etc. - or just unbolt everything and swap to new frame?

a quick check for 2020, steering rack part numbers are the same for an X and R

are you mechanically limited to 1/2 turn - like the tires are hitting something

are all the wheels the same, stock wheels, etc. ?

if you jack up and remove the front wheels - does the steering wheel get more rotation, etc.......

need pics of this thing on the ground from the front, pictures of tie rods, etc.

Thanks for the reply Ron. As far as carnage pics, nothing too exciting. Hit a hard dirt mound coming off a dune, broke the steering box and tie rod and bent the frame beyond repair. Not much to see really. I did switch to high clearance A-arms but the wheels and tires are the same. I don't have any decent pics at the moment because the car is currently at MTS. Had it revalved with a new spring kit. Currently getting aligned. This is pretty much all I have handy at the moment.

Jesus! A bent frame and you swapped the thing instead of an insurance claim for a new rig? Thats most likely why your having issues.
Too much happing in that situation and all fubar central can happen and it sounds like your there.
Personally for what you probably paid for all that, Id take it back to that person and say…
This turns like $hit, you messed with it fix it!
So For you to go through it and find out WTF rack he/they put in, you’ll be assholes and elbows deep in it.
Whatever you do, come back and tell us the low down. We will want to know.

Car? What car? You sent a pic of a Side By Side?🤣
Got to give you “car” guys $hit. Lol
Dam near cost as much as a car these days tho🤣
How bout some full pics not just the grill so we can see them mods? Lol

One last thing. Some friendly forum etiquette.. Make sure you hit “reply” see above, or tagg someone when responding like
@Bob Lynch or @DRZRon1 so they get a notice like you just did or they may never know you responded to there post.😉
