Does anyone know where I can get a valve shim kit for adjusting the valves on a talon? Honda offers individual shims, but no kit with multiple thickness shims.

Are these generic shims, or specifically for the talon?

They at least say Hot Cams on the box you can buy unbranded one's straight from China.

Rockymtn had a bunch available when I did mine.
I did overnight them vs buying the large kit.

FYI: The "kits" come in .05mm increments and the OEM shims are in .025mm increments so you will not be able to get as close to specs with the aftermarket shims when you need one of those "in-between" shims. If you need a 2.125mm, you will be stuck making a choice between the 2.10 and 2.15

Do the dealers have the shims in stock or is it order and wait.
My dealer claimed they had the OEM shims but turned out they only had the HotCam units despite me specifically asking before I got there. Call your dealer, YMMV.

I am OCD and wanted the intakes all (near) the same so needed a couple .025 increment shim so I had to order them. RMATV has most of the common ones in stock and if you are out west, you can get them pretty quickly.

You can do it with the .05 increment shims but you can end up with clearances that are within specs but all over the place and I am not fond of that with multi valve heads.

As long as the clearance is on the looser side of spec, the machine will operate fine.

This setup is very similar to the Honda Unicam dirtbike and if the valves get tight they wont start.

These type of shimmed valves will tighten up, not loosen over time.

Most dealers dont stock oem shims due to the large amount of avaliable sizes and the rarity of needing them.
