Jerome Powell is chairman of the Fedeal Reserve.
Jermie Powell lived in the DFW area of Texas and was chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas for years. His son Mathew "Matt" Powel was an assistant district attorney in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas in the '90s.
As a young ADA (prosecutor), Matt Powell and his wife owned a home on 76th Street in Lubbock. We owned a similar home on 77th Street. Our homes were back-to-back across an alley. We didn't know them except to nod a greeting if we saw them.
In the 2000s, the DA retired and Matt Powell was elected District Attorney of Lubbock County. They sold their home and moved to a more expensive home in a more expensive neighborhood. Upward mobility, part of the American dream.
Several years ago, Matt retired as DA and took a high-paying job in Midland, TX.
The Powell family members are ordinary citizens, patriots, Republican voters. They're probably a little smarter and a little more ambitious than average Americans but not born wealthy, not arrogant, just successful citizens.
