For how I want to use the bed it’s 2” too wide to fit on one side so you’d be limited to one or you’d have to lay the hinge on the bed to have a rear seat . It’s @19” to the center of the bed.

So, I would like to have lightweight, secure storage that will fit in the front of my bed. It must be shorter than bed rails and would prefer 1/2 the height or less. Also, would really need it to be secure. So able to put a lock on it and bolt it in somehow.

Thoughts?

Look at a pelican case. All different sizes. You can add combo locks. waterproof you could drill and bolt down with seals and bolts.

I can’t tell do those have a hinge or are do you need to remove the top. They are neat especially the stackability.

I have several Plano hard gun cases. They are worth the money when compared to Pelican for sure. Good quality. I just hate the pick-and-pluck foam it comes with.

Hi guys,
Here is a cheap and nasty solution that I came up with a year ago, right after I bought my Pioneer. It is not 100% waterproof or dustproof but I have had no problems with it. Made from 1/2" plywood, mounted with 4 bolts through the frame between the rear seats and the tailgate, and is lockable. A couple of downsides - you can't use the dump box feature with the cargo box installed, and the rear seat backs have to be released and moved slightly forward to fully open the lid (hence the holes in the sides) I carry an axe, shovel, compressor, wheel wrench, first aid kit, clevises, shackles, rope, tow straps, bungee cords, fire starter, TP, etc. It does the job for me.

I’m considering that but as deep as the tailgate when laid flat out of aluminum.

Hi Ohanacreek,
This box sits flush with the top of the sides and tailgate. My chainsaw (in another plywood box) sits on top of the tailgate and the cargo box.
It is rock solid and almost noiseless in the rough stuff.
