I didn't want to hijack the previous thread.. as my conditions are a bit different... but considering new tire/wheel combo. I currently have OEM 12' rims/tires... would like a bit more clearance WITHOUT a lift kit (though I did put on spring spacers up front due to weight of Tough Country Bumper (85#) and 5000 lb Viper Elite winch on top of that).
things that factor in...:
Riding conditions: will use hunting in lots of sharp Rocky terrain (putting on Trail Armor skid plate and S&S A-Arm guards for this) and sagebrush. Seldom mud - but hey... it's the northwest, will be some. Seldom pavement (illegal to drive on roads up here with these).
weight consideration: Have a 100 gallon Sprayer w/Honda motor/pump - used on my hazelnut orchard... filled - that's 1000# just for the sprayer (will be on flat smooth ground when weighted this much - but tires must take it).
On my Rincon's - I have used for past 10 years - Original Bighorn's (not 2.0) - and have been happy with how they stood up to rocks and wear... Don't know their weight capacity... or if they are still the best out there?
Should I be going with 14' rims? Best tire for these conditions? Would like to go to a 28" tire if I can... hear that I will probably need to "trim" the Trail Armor plates... but that's not a big deal... just don't want to raise the center of gravity any higher.. and sometimes get into steep sidehills, and don't want it any more tippy than necessary, while creating a bit more clearance with tires, and want one that will take abuse...
Thoughts??
