So I just finished up installing a winch.

By adding the new cable from the winch, the bolt was just a bit short and there sat the nut just underneath the bolt and no way for the bolt to catch the threads and pull it tight.

So- for those who find small things like this aggravating, thought I would share a solution that worked pretty well.

Wondering what other things you may have done to like DIY projects a bit easier.

Yep just shove the doubled over zip tie in under the nut before you remove the bolt! Or use a magnet!

Ha Ha. I tried that to and it bottomed out before it torqued up.
So I will leave it here for those like me who don't have as good a selection as you have.
HA! I'm a plumber not a mechanic and don't have all the fancy tools for mechanics, the magnet I was referring to is a telescoping with a swivel head, use it most times for retrieving tools out of pipes, about eighteen inches long fully extended.

that is also a good idea. I posted this because the nut on mine was brass (maybe so it wouldn't rust) but glad you posted another option. My point of post was to start a thread as a way to thank others who have offered good ideas here and helped me and hoped to offer some ideas to those who follow.
Brass nut? Really, is this a stock battery, mines a steel nut on a stock 2016, brass is way better and a magnet deffinatly won't work, zip ties work though.

Yep, brass bolts from Honda. I was pleasantly surprised to see it. Oh yeah, I used a zip tie too. ;)

Ok then. Yes I used a zip tie as well before I got the longer bolts.o_O
Cool, the zip tie works but yeah the longer bolt is better and if you’ve got a brass nut, you’re even more valuable or popular or something lmao....:D:D:D:D:cool:

Funny, had to do the zip tie battery nut thing yesterday hooking up charger leads, now keep a zip tie under the rubber strap on atvs for future use.

Ok, now you got me curious, I thought they were Zinc plated? Brass is soft? I've got to do some stuff to Rooster tomorrow to get ready for the Take Over, I'll check it out.

I took the clothes off for the photo shoot. :D:D
Lol, I thought it might be because the same reason that I can’t put mine back on, seems once you take it off it gets that way....:D

Fun hack if you need to get a bearing onto a shaft put your afraid of burning it up with a torch. Get rags saturate them with water wrap that bearing and place into microwave. This will heat the bearing without damaging it and no the microwave will not explode. The wet cloth absorbs the microwave energy.

What if you put a gerbil in there with it. ;)
