This will bring in a new level of money to elections. Two of the most basic ideas of a free and fair election are that votes are secret and anonymous. You can drive people to the polls give them money or gifts whatever you want but the knowledge that no one can see or trace your individual ballot gives the voter the freedom to vote however they want. Mail in voting offers neither of these protections No longer limited to the honor system people will be able at see what they are buying. We’ll call it something more acceptable like direct lobbying. Voters holding ballots with particularly hated names like Mitch or pelosi will commander a higher level of direct lobbying. Sign up for your mail in ballots now. If we’re going to get screwed might as well make em buy us dinner first. I wonder how much direct lobbying one of those liberals would give a hillbilly holding a ballot with Mitch’s name and a blank spot beside it.
