Hey guys,
First time post. I need some help here. I've been through every forum search and google search and I'm a little stumped.
I got a 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000, 20k, but mainly a farm truck, never been "off roading". I blew a water pump seal gasket, and it would leak out all of the coolant, as you could guess, it when then overheat. Obviously not the small weep that the manual claims, it would leak out in a matter of minutes.
I took the water pump off, took the seal out, and it was obvious this was the problem. It was stretched and wouldn't fit in the groove of the water pump. I put a new one back in, fill the Honda back up with coolant. Start and run for a few minutes, and no leak. Then after a few minutes the seal blew and started pouring out. Mind you I was too impatient to even go by the manual, and I didn't back off the bleed screw when I filled it. So they were cheap and shipping was expensive, I ordered multiple ones this time.
Go by the book, open up the bleed screw, fill the radiator with coolant, let it fill the system. As coolant first gets to the water pump, the seal is dripping just a little. Gets to the thermostat and the bleed screw and starts to bubble out. I tighten the bleed screw and then again the weep hole just starts pouring out. Take off the water pump, seal is stretched out again. I do this multiple times. Draining the system, checking all my connections but won't quit leaking out the weep hole. Crazy thing is, I don't even get a chance to start it. All this is done without the machine running and on a level surface.
Any thoughts?? Banging my head against the wall here....
