Out in the plains you can have the same issue.
not uncommon to get stuck in bottomless soils (sloughs etc) and if your lucky you might have a good fence post within reach, but not likely…and they just pull out usually.
the best tool is a shovel and the space between your ears.
self rescued my self many times with a simple shovel. Dig out the wheel tracks and wedge in rocks, cooler lids what ever to get traction on the wheels.
Of course you could always call your buddy if you have cell reception.
