If there's a duramax around it could either be an exhaust stud or turbo mounting stud and if it's a newer one that has a dpf (it uses def) it could be a dpf mounting stud.

I drive a 2015 duramax...

Maybe a bed bolt?

Bed bolts are tapered but not fine thread on one end though

Although the tapering is correct for a motor mount. The only thing is unless it's for a motor on a Barbi truck it's too small for a motor mount. Those are usually grade 8 fairly large bolts. Good thought though.

Could be for a shock mount are you sure if came off of your car and not someone that stopped by maybe

The shock mount makes sense maybe. I lost a upper shock mount a few weeks ago on the highway. Just figured it fell out there. Maybe it has been laying in the frame the whole time... 3308a2f929e2742930e3a25693958c01

Well it's not a shock bolt. It doesn't match the side I still have so back to the drawing board.

Still looks like an exhaust manifold stud by its size and threaded on one side that is now stripped that was in the head and a solid space after that . They're easily stripped in today's aluminum heads, and the nut on the other that is usually matching black. Like knuckledeep said with manufacturing for motor mounting, the "tip" same goes for assembly line for headers/manifolds and intakes. I have a box of assorted types left in my tool box from when I was at Roush. Check all your manifold and intake studs to be safe. There's quite a few on today's engines one being removed won't be noticeable with a noise. I could be wrong! Just a familiar item.

Maybe it's an exhaust pipe bolt for either one of your vehicles
