I'm new to the sxs world and new to the site. Could someone help me out. I really dislike the steel wheels that came on my P5 and would like to replace them with aluminum. I don't want the overall width of the machine to get any wider, so I can still get it between my fender wells. I also would like to mount the stock tires on the wheels and wear them out before buying new tires. Any suggestions?

welcome gunnut,
I just went with some SS rims same width as stock. I ran the factory tires for a while, then I put 25 inch tires on it.

Thanks Kenmo. Do you remember the offset you got and did it make it wider?

Welcome to the club, front wheels are12x6 with4.5+1.5 offset, rear wheels are 12 x 7.5 with 6+1.5 offset ,the after market wheel you would want would be a 12x7 with a 5+2 offset .that's what I used on the front of mine but went with a 8 wide on back with a 5+3 offset ,this made it 53 inches wide in the rear .the 5 +2 offset will make it a little wider but you can't buy 4.5+ 1.5 aftermarket wheels

Thanks for that info on the offset.that'll be helpful for many!. I remember ITP used to make an SS wheel years ago with a 6+1 offset (I used it on my 05 Kodiak 450)...not sure if they still make it or if it would work...would be interesting to find out for everyone wanting to keep stock width with aftermarket rims

Please do find out. I asked RMATV some time ago and they said that there was no after market wheel that would maintain the integrity of the stock width then.

Really! Would you mind measuring it to verify that?

You can tell by the picture that the aftermarket rims have a bigger offset..they look to be a 5+2 offset that would widen you slightly
That's what I thought, but he says the tires are under the fender wells???

Wear out the stock wheels and tires together .The factory steels are the strongest wheel you can get ! Have them painted to match your p5 !

The tires are under the fender well . I like to wear nice shirts when i ride. Dont want mud all over me. lol
What width tires do you run? Even with wider tires, narrow wheels may be ok..I have 5+2 offset with 9" tires on the front and 11" wide on the back....and the mud sure does fly!!-LOL
