Hello i have a 2016 1000 with 8600 miles on it. When taking off in high it makes loud clunking noise and then will take off, sounds like when the reverse went out(which was replaced and upgraded with the talon reverse and low gear about 3000 miles ago) but now it does it in high first gear. It started out doing it a while back once in a grate while, normally from shifting out of reverse to high then gradually does it every time I take off. I thought it might be in the sub trans like the reverse gear was but I just pulled it apart and everything looks great. I can run in low and no issues at all only first taking off in high. Any thoughts?

Is your cable adjusted so that when in N the shift lever is centered in the N gate on the dash? If it’s not centered adjust so it is and that may solve the issue.

I can stop leave it in gear shut it off come back and take off and it makes the same noise, u cam feel it try to grab a gear and eventually it does. Used to only happen under a load or going up a hill now it does it pulling out of the barn

It's hard to imagine what you're hearing, maybe it would benefit to upload a YouTube and post it here. Although, they often don't come across all that well, but maybe a start.

You could change the engine and tranny filters to see if there might be any clutch material indicating a need for number one clutch replacement.

Would a rear locker only do it in High first gear and not reverse or Low gear?
Typically no, but stranger things have happened.
I’d check the filters.
Have you ever done a clutch relearn? That may help if it’s wear on the clutch

I'm with ODAMO. Sounds like your rear differential lock is out of adjustment...(cable is too LOOSE). One thing to note that may not be obvious is the fact that the cable pulls and holds the rear diff OUT of lock. If it is not adjusted with enough tension, the locking pawl in the diff will partially engage/disengage, making a pretty nasty popping sound.

And all I was wondering about is changing out the front splash guards on my P1-5. Really I poked a hole in one and decided to change them both out, the doors have to come off and if I remember right I couldn't get the door frame hinge off when I did the door bushings years ago. Figure since new splash guards are going on, I can butcher the old one to get at the nut welded to the rops and apply a little heat and impact? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
