I’m sure it will work.. I just ride in big rubber boots all the time and didn't like the idea of stomping on my brake lever.
I wear Mucks a lot and they don't hit the lever....ever! How can your little feet, little meat ever get in the way!o_O

hadn't had a chance to test it riding wise. I will be at mulberry this weekend so I will see if it falls on the petal while riding. if it does I might just add a spring or something to keep it up. really. simple install.

I kinda figured with the indent it wouldn't fall. but....if it did a spring would solve that issue. took a total of 15mins to install. n most of that was talking to family while installing. thanks drfubar for posting the link to get this lever clamp. saved me a lot of time.

I just ordered one for dad’s machine. We’ll see how it compares.. be a lot easier to install. Can you also set it with your foot?

I installed the BBQ clamp this evening by drilling and tapping the existing bracket. Aside from working while contorted under the steering column, it was quick and easy to set alignment and install the clamp.

This is absolutely the most bang-for-your-buck modification you could do on the Pioneer, and in my opinion, an absolute necessity. When I was in the process of test-driving the Pioneer before buying, the salesman pointed out to me that there is no parking brake. I thought it was a bit odd, but after a bit of operational experience, was unhappy with the amount of play in the transmission before the machine came to rest against the parking pawl. For five dollars, I'm delighted with the results.

So question. I ordered the bbq clamp. Installed on factory bracket there. My problem is the clamp doesn’t have enough strength to keep “engaged” on the brake...? Anyone else have this problem? Am I doing something wrong here? Defective clamp? Thanks people.

Sometimes they need a little grinding so they swing all the way. Look and see where it hits and grind a little off.

Thank you. Problem solved. I also grabbed a pair of ViseGrips and pinched a couple of the links on the clamp so it would stay up and out of the way while riding. I also swapped out the bolt and rubber foot to a longer, bigger setup. It gets more brake. Very happy with this mod! Thanks again people.

I went with simplicity since I believe it to be the most fail proof. The design is nothing new, but is self resetting. I made this out of spare parts in my garage. You would need a welder and other general metal working tools, but cost me almost nothing.
It has 2 settings. A light one for general parking/trailering and a heavy setting for hills.

You interested in selling this setup/idea?
Sorry, I don't think I'd be willing to sell something like this due to possible liabilities since it would imply some sort of safety brake. Feel free to steal the idea for yourself. Hilly Brakes are going run you around $80 after tax and before shipping. I made this for $2, but would require you to already own a welder, some scrap steel, paint, and parts. A park brake is definitely worth the investment, whether it costs you the money or the time.
