Good day! I am going to pick up a P500 in the next couple weeks and am researching tires and wheels. My sweetie likes a little bling, so we have decided on 14" wheels. Will there be any issue with running 14x7" front and rear rather than the recommended staggered setup of 14x7 front and 14x8 rear? Probably planning on going with 26x9-14 all the way around, but open to input if that is a bad idea.

Any input is welcome!

You're good to go that way. What offset are you going with, 5+2, 4+3? 14" wheels will give you a little bit rougher ride than 12's due to less tire sidewall.

Planning on Moose 387X in 4+3. And yes, going with 14's over 12's is choosing flash over comfort. I figure it will have a similar sidewall to stock so it will ride similarly. We test rode a P500 and P700 last weekend and the 500 rode smoother than I expected. The 700 was certainly more plush, but the difference going over curb stops wasn't as pronounced as I was expecting.

Thanks for the response!

I'm a big fan of using the same size tires all around.
One spare fits any corner.
14x7 or 14x8? you probably won't be able to tell the difference.

the 700 I know was very stiff at the start till I put some weight in the back and drove it on the trails some, and they had the air cranked up to 15 or 20 lbs, 10-12 in the back was better, the radials you can go to 5-8. tire pressure plays a bigger part than most people realize in ride

Thanks for the tip! I already picked up a tire pressure gauge designed for low pressure. I will certainly have to try out different pressures to see what works best.

I was thinking 14x7 and 9" wide tires. Wider tires are tempting, but I know that I need to be careful with weight.

Since you have 14 inch wheels you might consider getting light duty mud terrain truck tires. 27 x 8.5 X 14 I've been running them and absolutely love them. Most UTV ATV tires go around 5,000 miles. Truck tires are supposed to go 50,000 miles. In my opinion it's the best option since the price is around $100 per tire either way. My set cost $410 total. They have handled everything I've thrown at them, no problem. But, I stay away from deep mud , it's just not my thing.

I think most run9 front 11 rear on the 500, I like this rarely have wear so that you need to rotate it anyway. width helps with traction and a lot of tires have side tread that wont be doing anything if they are same width. all depends where you ride if its dry and rocky people like those truck tires but here we have a lot of snow and mud and wouldn't make it out of the yard most of the year. mud lite 2s I like we have a lot of mud and snow, they ride nice for a tire with decent tread

Well, turns out my question was moot after all. I intended to go with the same size wheels all around, but the style my girlfriend was after I only found in stock with 2 7" wide and 2 8" wide. So I got larger in back and ended up going with 11" wide tires in back. Here is a quick picture, I plan to do a full write up once I have some miles on my new machine and the tires.

I’ve had both 12” and 14” wheels on a P500. Ride difference on 12” wheels isn’t any better than 14” was! But 14” sure looks 100% better than 12” wheels do
