I have a 2015 HP 500 with 1200 miles. I noticed a high pitch sound coming from the rear differential after a pretty good ride. It felt real hot and so did the axles. I checked the oil and it was fine.
Is this normal.
Mine feel real hot after a ride too. Don't know exactly what high pitch you're referring to. If you've never changed the differential fluid it might be due. I went with synthetic in mine.
Mine makes a low hum, high pitch whine, clack, rattle and a dooga dooga noise. When I let off the gas they all stop, so that means gear noise not bearing noise. My bearings are spotless... I inspected them. Just loud straight cut gears... if someone rides with me that never has before I always have to say "it's normal" bc they look at me crazy when the noises kick in at about 20mph... lol
If you're going to change out the dif fluid this will make it much easier. I drilled out an extra filler cap to fit some tubing I had around. The gears almost block the fill hole making it hard to put a tube in. this way you can pour in the correct amount, wait for it to settle in and then remove with minimal spilling.
