Posted a video, 2017 500. Set lash to .15mm and .25 exh, still terrible rattle tic, I read Cam something with decomp springs, maybe oil pump, Conrod wear, looking for a service manual to see what I’m getting myself into

In the upper right of your screen, click on your avatar, then click on Account Upgrades. Sign up, get free PDF manuals here. It's like $15 a year.

Sorry bud but you best be pulling the engine, it's not hard, get the manual and go step by step.

Here's a few pics from when I did the 520 cyl conversion.

You'll need a couple pullers to the the flywheel & clutch basket off, I bought them off Amazon.

Messed up jug piston and con rod got hot, not good
Any clues as to why or how? Dirt in intake? Submerged? Etc...... These are pretty reliable engines overall.

I’ll have to pop the air box and check it out. Not to sure. The sides of the cylinder show areas of cross hatch parallel to the wrist pin. The areas with nasty transfer are perpendicular to the pin, dont know if that means anything piston slap or how the piston was interacting with the jug. Today I’m gunna take the engine out and look further for more failure and build a parts list, I got a service manual from the membership here

I guess lack of maintenance, oil is black maby ingestion. Excess heat? Rod is blue. Rotates still but it got hot enough to transfer

Unless the air filter is missing, that damage looks like it was run without oil. Maybe a bad oil pump?

Some of that bluing is normal from inductive heat treating the crank pin area & rod. This is from my P5 when I did the 520 cyl mod.
