Been in the blind all day! Winds are starting to lay down so hopefully the deer will be moving. The cattle laid down all morning til just recently. Usually if the cows are down, the deer are down too.

Not much of a deer hunter though. Birds are my game. Shot my first deer ever last year. Scored 163"

We don’t have deer on the main land in Alaska, but we do have the largest members of the deer family. Here’s the moose we got this fall. Quite the adventure as it is every year!

Down in Southeast and Kodiak, but there are no deer in the interior. I wish there were!

Kodiak, hmmm not sure I'd be wanting to hunt deer there lol. Have the grizzlies up there started responding to gun shots like a dinner bell like they're starting to down here now? I've seen pics of Kodiak brown bears

Absolutely! You better be on your guard when you have a down animal anywhere in this state. The bears are getting really thick. We had one come in on us while we were finishing up with the moose this year when it was pitch black and we were a mole or so from the wheelers packing it out in the pitch black. It was no fun at all!

What to do during the 3-4 hours in the middle of the day you leave the blind... bologna sandwich and sit inside the cab on the Honda while the wind whips around and enjoy a beverage.

I actually did a Honda mod while I waited. I cut those foam fillers to fit my new mirrors with my pocket knife...

Went up to northern British Columbia. Had afew close encounters with moose but was looking for a big rack. Nice country up there. P5'ed for hundreds of kms.


Luckily the river wasn't too deep.


This bad boy wouldn't leave me alone so he's in the freezer.
