My wife had a Honda 200X. After it chunked her over the bars a couple of times I sold it and bought her a 4 wheeler. A friend of mine almost died when he hit a big rock in deep grass and wound up with broken ribs and punctured lungs. Those things were a disaster going somewhere to happen.
Exactly!!!

I just saw the updates, I am kinda disappointed that the 500 did not get a locker and the 700 did not get a low gear. I am still trying to decide on a 500 or the can am hd8. I know 2 way different machines

One more question, looks like they changed the first gear ratio. Is first gear a higher gear now?

There are plenty of p500s here in Mississippi. I went to Brookhaven Honda yesterday and they had 3 for $7699 each. Got gear motor sports in ridgeland has several and they price match. Brookhaven also had about 10 p1000s out. They may have more of both in back...
YEA I bought my P5 in Brookhaven on 7/12/2016 and I love it

Good observation. Looks like they went from a 4.23 to a 3.615 1st gear. I really like the granny low first gear but see how it could be a problem in auto mode.

That was the one thing that I really wanted to keep is the Granny gear. I getting closer to a purchase, may not look for a 17' but kinda intrigued on how low the new first gear is first.

Yeah, since the 500 doesnt have a low range you really need that granny gear on occasion to do work. Makes pulling logs, trailers, etc much easier and doesnt stress the engine/clutch as much. Also makes creeping down a hill really easy. When you eventually put bigger tires on you are going to want that lower gearing even more. I wouldnt say its a deal breaker but I much prefer the lower 1st gear. I dont think the granny would work well with the auto so Im sure thats why they changed the gearing on the 17s.

I don't think it will really be much of a difference. It will still be very low geared... I wouldn't let that stop me from buying one!

I love granny low for the working aspect. My wife hooked up the drag and drug her horse arena with the Honda instead of the tractor

I've pulled a disc and a DR power grader. If first was geared taller, it would not be good for pulling implements like mine.

And how much does it cost.
It works good. I wouldn't have bought one, but my friend sold it to me for $200. The actuator is broken so it digs all the time. For $1300 they cost new, I sure wouldn't buy one.

Considering you bought it for $200.00 is it possible and worth buying a new actuator??
