My dealer just called me back the number he had was for a 16, so he said it would probably be at least a couple of weeks before he had part #'s for the 17. So he said he would let me know just as soon as he has them.

They look just like the canadian shocks they replaced under recall for everyone up there, while we got the sticker. They do lower it 1" but are dual rate and ride better.

Looks like they raised the MSRP $500 for progressive springs on the shocks and automatic mode. I would think AT mode would be a little anemic with less than a 500cc engine. I think using the paddles is the best way to get the power out of this machine. The dealers are offering some killer prices on the 2016 models right now and if I was looking at a P5 I would jump on one for sure.

Where I bought mine they had em 6999 out the door done. No sales tax for out of state people either.

You got a camo 500 for that price, wow. My dealer wants like $400 extra for camo. I like my old school green.

No I did the math, dealer would have ordered me green plastics for 200$ extra so I waited till there were was only Camo left. I told them I wanted to buy one today. And we came out to 7250 out the door done. I would have spent $200 and my time swapping the plastics out to make it green. I wanted either green or Camo but refused to pay the 400-500$ extra for Camo so I waited and talked them down.

I wouldn't give up an inch of ground clearance for anything . Heck I spent $ 500.00 to gain two inches on my RZR . I will have to say the difference in ride smoothness between the two is huge . The RZR would be the luxury smooth model (Cadillac) and the P5 would be the the ruff rider (cj5) but thats ok . As for the automatic ...uh ,well, paddle shift is one of the reasons I wanted a P5 .

It seems to indicate that the new P500 and 700 Deluxe share the same transmission. Does that mean the 700 gained a creeper gear or the 500 lost it?

I hadn't heard that. I think that info would have been mentioned in the release. Did you read that somewhere or just speculation?

It was mentioned in one of the links provided.

"Now, let’s get to the 2017 Pioneer 500. The Pioneer 500 is now available with the same MT / AT Automatic Transmission that I mentioned above for the 700."

Hmmm I see your point. The way that's written definitely makes it sound like they share a tranny. I can't imagine them taking gears from the 500, my guess is maybe the 5 speed in both? But then why wouldn't they specify that piece of VERY important information? Now I don't know what to think!

While I'm not excited about the P500 updates, the P700 updates do, but would like to see the creeper gear, along with paddle shift and power steering. A P700-4 Deluxe "may" be in my future,, if so.

I'm very happy with the paddle shifters, I'm sure those of us running bigger tires would not be happy with a auto mode. The shifting wouldn't be spot on for us. The progressive shock are the only thing that caught my eye. Glad I got my blue, I'm not real impressed with this color of green, hope it looks better in person.
I agree with Stacy on the shifters as shifting is what makes the P5 so much fun to drive.

That's got to be the lowest price I've ever seen!
I got one. It's real. There's sales tax and $10 title (MS State) and $50 (MS State) trauma fee... But a $7,546.79 OTD price quoted to me, over the phone... So I brought cash (exact change), to the penny!!! No trouble. No surprises. Every thing between $6,997 and $7,546.79 was MS State Taxes and fees... Nothing Brookhaven Honda has controls over, anyway.
Talk to Ben (General MGR). Price will increase by at least $500. He said soon!

Agree as well, Alan.

So...we have a new color...let's call it ExorcistPuke green.

And we have a couple of nanny-state restrictions to our freedom to decide our own fates.

And we have a needless complication to a very cool, very simple transmission which drew many of us to the P5 in the first place.

All for only an additional $500!

Nice work, Honda. I'm glad I got my blue 2016.

It's almost as if they are competing against themselves...they now have two very comparable machines (500 and 700)..close in cc's with the same features...just a little strange to me...I thought, at least, they would attack the RZR900 and Wolverine machines..at least that is what I had hoped :)
I remember when Honda made 3 wheelers... 50', 70's, 90's, 110's, 125's... 185's, 200's, 250 big reds...

Good thing no one makes those dangerous machines any longer. I had the 125. I sure remember lots of wrecks and injuries to people on those.

I had 2 of them back in the day. Hurt like hell learning to ride them but once you figure it out they were simple and you could ride for miles on 2 wheels. They were like a floor buffer, they control you until you figure it out.

The good thing here is that maybe the AT will get more people buying the 500. When there are more machines out there, we get better aftermarket goodies.

My wife had a Honda 200X. After it chunked her over the bars a couple of times I sold it and bought her a 4 wheeler. A friend of mine almost died when he hit a big rock in deep grass and wound up with broken ribs and punctured lungs. Those things were a disaster going somewhere to happen.

Yep, but that's the point, and the reason they aren't made anymore. A four legged stool is superior in stability to a three legged stool.
