Used my doe tag this past weekend. Getting a bunch of snack sticks made. Now to wait for the rut to catch a buck slipping hopefully. Rut where I’m at starts late January early February.

Saw his daddy last year and didn't shoot, same horns only way bigger. Saw two more just like him this year only smaller. Daddy was busy in rut last year. He was aged at two years old.
Another cull buck taken by my son. 162.7 pounds. Aged at 4 years old. That's a very big body deer where we hunt. And yes we hauled it out on my P500. The man in the background is my oldest son cleaning a 8 point he took. Nope I don't haul it out, it came out on his Honda Foreman.

Yep that's a good one he would be legal where I hunt. Must have 3 points on one side and 15 inch spead or 18 inch main beam

Ground check them. I got one this year that was realllll close to being a little small. Its crazy two miles away from my place on the other side of hwy is a different zone only rule there is must have 3 points. There are a lot of deer killed in that zone.
I had a great morning duck hunt a couple weeks ago after deer season ended. Now it’s time to make a batch of duck gumbo.

I loved duck hunting. Haven't done any sense I left Arkansas in 1965.

I think that area of the state is really not deer country as much as it is duck. I grew up busting ducks from Carlisle to Wheatley, and Hunter to Bayou Meto. I think of the 40 years I was there I saw 2 deer.
I'll trade you all the deer you want for just a decent number of ducks.
I actually use the award winning duck gumbo recipe from the Stuttgart AR Ducks Unlimited chapter. It’s an all day cook but is really tasty.
We have 7 tanks on the property that all have ducks on them this time of the year. First time I had the Benelli SBE3 out this year. Needed to knock the rust off.
