Just bought a 2019 700-4 Honda Deluxe yesterday. I wasn't planning on buying new but the price wasn't too far off a used and with my Yamaha Grizzly 450 EPS trade in I was able to buy it.
The salesman said that Honda likes to perform a valve adjustment (?) after 20 hrs?
I did test drive the Yamaha and I thought the Honda rode much better.

Everyone might not agree but I did not , just change oil, checked coolant level and checked air filter. I was told on my p5 and 700 that they were rarely out of spec at 20hrs by the service dept. I am going to do mine in a month or two but it seems fine. I hope some more 700 guys chime in about when they did their first one.

I didn’t check valves yet. I changed the engine and gear oil. I’m over 1K miles. I’ll be checking valves at next service in a month or two. Nice looking machine you got. ;)

Yes. 1st at 100 miles, and then every 600 miles thereafter.
My advice is DO NOT skip the 1st one. After that...if you want to skip some, it's probably OK, but this is a machine that's known to eat cams on occasion.

I will do mine after 4th of July holidays. And I have heard of the cam is issue on rare occasions. I am big on oil and air filters and change my oil about every 300 miles. But the valves have been on my mind. It's embarrassing but I only have 342 miles on mine but I've hot two rides planned this month. It does get drove several times a week. I just need to be a better contributor to live shots from the trail.

I just performed the first service today, 14 hours and 100 miles on it. Valve clearance was in spec.

Valve clearance check is real easy, too easy to skip during break in period. Adjustment is typical Honda as well if you are familiar with old thumpers.

The place I bought it from said it would cost me $300 for the service. I might just do it myself.

may be simple but all the screws on my plastic are welded with locktight and stripped when I have some time I'm going to have to drill them out or something, hate locktight, all the crap on my prairies were too

I have the same machine and just did the first 100 mile service without a valve adjustment. I did check the front and rear gear fluids and almost freaked out when I could not see any oil in the front. I went to the dealer and bought a pint and talked to the service manager and he told me they were filled at the factory. I also told him I would be back, with the machine, if it took more than a pint. It took 4 ounces.
I will do a valve adjustment at the next oil change which will be in another 100 miles, just for piece of mind.

Well, a few days and 20 miles late I ran into a tree. UTV is in repair shop for estimate but most likely frame damage. The front safety bar will need to be replaced also. The plastic hood was not damaged fortunately.
Glad Honda makes it where you have to wear your seat belt to operate the UTV.

Dang, that sucks. Did it bring you home or did you need a tow job?
