I’ll be staying in Silverton the week of July 26 to Aug 1 to explore the area. This is my first time to Colorado. It’s always better to have more that one machine so maybe someone that can’t make the official ride at the end of August could make this one.

That book is a very good investment. I used same before last years group ride.

Had a buddy up there a week ago, said it snowed on him while they were on top of Engineer pass, but said for the most part they are clear

we will be there the week before 7/17-24th. I have found some electronic downloadable files for GPS on "jeeptheusa" web site - have not downloaded or anything so have no recommendation just passing along. If others have electronic files would be great to have the database. Seems I found Bob Titzer had some ( the guy who has free maps available for Hatfield McCoy trails but cant seem to locate Colorado maps from him now) Really looking forward to exploring the area.

Fantastic area to explore. Have been many times. Your book is a good one and many good maps available on line too. Make sure to check out the Ouray Chamber or commerce ( Welcome to Ouray, Colorado | Hot Springs, Jeep Tours, Hotels ) and other local town/govt. sites for up to date list of closures. Last Summer certain routes were closed due to things like slides. Still plenty of routes open. Imogene pass (Ouray to almost Telluride) is one of my favorites. You'll need to trailer there as non licensed vehicles are not allowed on portions of route from Silverton to Ouray.

I wish I could make it. But having three deep incisions into my gut make doing much of anything very difficult. Y'all have fun! Don't go and get eaten by no critters!

Have fun ! Make sure to ride the "gulchs" less traffic and more scenery.... Poughskoopie? Was open and is very doable bypassing the wall. Hope you got that b**** burped well or you will be needing coolant. Plan accordingly for overheat dead serious. Miles of smiles!

Got into Silverton today and knocked out a few trails. We were able to ride Kendall Mountain to the overlook and ride all of Arrastra Gulch.

Yes that’s Silverton. The temps are ranging from low 60’s in town to low 50’s up top. It did rain a little but we prepped a little.
