No problem I just have them in case someone wants or needs any. I dont make but about $10 per radio and i have them preprogramed and ready to go.
You are correct you need a license to transmit on some of the channels that can be prograed into the radio.
Yeah, no worries. I just wanted to make a mention about it, so people don't grab a radio and start hitting buttons and do something that might get them into trouble.
As for general trail comms, it's a good idea to have GMRS/FRS radios. I was "that guy" that had a CB radio and 8 foot steel whip antenna on his 4wheeler back in the day. 🤣
They can help if you're in a group of more than a couple vehicles. Good to have to find out why the group stopped, or is ready to go onto the next area or whatevers. Also can be helpfull spotting for a difficult obstacle, or with winching. Pick up NOAA weather broadcasts etc.
Myself, I usually bring along a GMRS mobile rig, plus a hand-held ham radio. Havn't gotten to use them much yet, as the group I usually ride with doesnt have any radios.
