I have read that some guys have had good luck foing with 28 inch tires on the 700. I will probably be doing %80 of my riding on pavement. Does anyone know of a 28 inch DOT tire that will fit on the 700-4 ?

I'm running 28-8.50-r14 super swamper tsl's on my 1000 they work great on everything but sloppy mud. Just came back from the takeover no flats or damage from the rocks. Also I'm about 500 miles into them and have no visible wear. They are one of the lighter tires I could find when looking and only weigh 31lbs each.

maybe not what you want but I just installed 27" terribites on my 700-4.
they are DOT, 8 ply tires and look huge compared to originals.
someone at Honda either fudged the OEM tire sizes or they converted from metric wrong.

Do the terrabites fit well with the stock suspension? What is your new top speed, out of curiosity?

lot so of better info on terribites if you do a search.
My needs were not around how much tires weighed or top end speed.
I ran it up to the 43 just as if nothing had changed but not sure how it calibrates mph with diff or wheel. There is info on that here but I don't have it off the top of my head.
I can tell you that I am happy with how they look, ride and dig. I would buy them again. I did go with 14" rims/tires and still got a better ride on hard surfaces with less noise.
good luck on finding what works for you.

I also have the Terrabytes in 27/9/12 all 4! I am pleased but do wish that I had gone with 27/10 which I think would be perfect for me. I like the terrabytes, quiet smooth, not a mudder and don't consider mine to be a boat. See my SIG pic, Good Looking tire.

What wheels are you using, and the labeled tire size please? Thanks!

Can't speak for Guitaraustin99 but I just got a deal on a full set of BFG A/T 215/75 R15's and they measure out about 27 1/2" tall and 8 1/2" wide. Had I not found these used but brand new for $250! I would have probably purchased 235/75 R15's. I don't have much experience yet on the 700, but I had Maxxis Buckshot II's on my P1000-5 they were a 27x8.50x14 I believe. As far as the 1000-5 goes those tires improved acceleration quite a bit. I'm assuming due to the taller tire and much narrower contact patch contributing to less rolling resistance. Definitely a loss of flotation, but i had it in flooded out tilled sandy bottomed cornfield with water over the headlights at times and was impressed to say the least! I was in 4x4 but didn't have the front diff locked. I wouldn't recommend it lol as it was kinda accidental (3 AM) but sold me on truck tires forever!

One side note though- with the 700 it most likely wouldn't matter, but with these type tires on the 1000 I will say while on blacktop please everyone be careful on wet roads mainly in corners. I spun mine out going around a 90° turn in a little drizzle and was just driving normal and cruising. Thing did a full 180 and speared the ditch!

Got the 215/75r15 on tonight. Really like the look but not sure about the performance yet. They're very heavy, I was still able to hit 45 MPH, but also just installed Dobbecks EJK tuner. Without the tuner I'm not sure it would make it to the limiter.
I asked the shop that mounted them to put about 15 pounds in them however I think they're lower- probably less than 10 so thats robbing a little power too. Gonna air them up some tomorrow and see how it goes.....

Tell me what your experience is with the tuner before and after installation! What gains did you observe? Did you dyno the SXS before and after?

A simple Google search should get ya there. Yeah, tuner is a piggyback right off injector. Unfortunately I ordered them both about the same time and have yet to really spend much time tinkering with it other than a few miles up and down the road.

I can tell you the 700 sounds slightly different and throttle response seemed better. Still no beating that damn speed limiter!

So just took the 700 for a spin after evening out all the tire pressures and set them all at 20 psi. Its a little higher than I wanted but I just went with what took the majority of sag out of the sidewall and did decent going down blacktop. At the speed limiter it holds right at 46 mph and just guessing the RPM's sound noticeably lower. The speedo reads 42-43 MPH.

If you don't do much mud the terrabites are a good choice. They wear very well. They come 27s for 12" rims but if you want 28s you will need 14" rims.
