Friend of mine owns a pioneer 700. At any rate we were talking differences between pioneer 500 vs the 700. He says his manual says oil change every 1200 miles vs the pioneer 500 every 600 miles. I got to thinking why...... cuz they are both single cylinders. Doesn't really make sense. 600 miles comes up quickly. Does anyone know why this would be like that?

I’ve got a 7hundo and I’m pretty sure that the manual says change the oil every six hundred. At least that’s what I’m doin. I can check later if needed. 😉

Yes I just looked it up it is 600 miles. I thought it was weird. So I'm going to let him know that he was doing it wrong. For a minute there I was thinking of trading up for a 700 to get the extra 600 miles. Ha! Thanks.

If he can fit mobil 1 extended life filter, he can change every 15k miles :)

But seriously, I do it once a year regardless of miles. After hunting season is over in January

The biggest difference between these is the 500/700 uses mostly ball bearings in the engine. While the 1000 uses a lot of fluid bearings.
This is good and bad.

Remember the old days when you sank your Honda... Ya, change the oil 3 times and you were good as new. Not going to happen with the 1000. Sunk and Done.
