1 set target at 13.2 and noticed exhaust getting some color maybe running on hot side after WO throttle. Do Honda like more fuel

I first set my target at 13.0 but bumped it up to 13.2. It works good for me.

The most important thing is to set the idle AFR higher. I had to manually plug in -7 for 5 places in two columns. That will keep it from fouling the plug and O2 sensor. I had to find out the hard way by fouling two O2 sensors.

Leave the “13.2” out of the auto tune table in the lower rpm.

I’ll get a screen shot of it in a little bit.

Another tip that improved fouling for me was to increase the auto tune warm up time from the standard 60 seconds to 240 seconds. I will drive from the shop to the house and other places close by which may only be 1000 feet at a time and I don’t want the auto tune to try to make only small adjustments without the engine being fully warmed up.

This picture shows the -7 I put in the lower throttle position and lower RPMs so that it will never get to Rich when idling. Your machine may be different so you want to change that number with the engine running and watch the AFR.

Here’s the target table I’m running. Just plain and simple.

I’m at -3 idle My target table same as yours but my exhaust is telling me 13.2 is to lean. These Honda’s may like more fuel don’t know.

I don’t know if 13.2 is to lean I don’t have dyno to find out. The muffler changing colors that far from the head makes me worry. They always said lean makes it mean. I going play around with more fuel see what happens.

Ok, I understand now. The distance from the head to the muffler is probably not that much different from a car long tube headers distance from head to the end of the collector.

The muffler is probably changing colors because the catalytic converter is built into it. There’s a lot of heat transfer from the catalytic converter all the way out the exhaust tip I’m sure.

I don’t think hmf exhaust has the converter does it. I read somewhere these motors like around 13.0. WO throttle is were it may need more than 13.2. I don’t run wfo very often but if your going tune you may as well tune all the way. I’m sure 13.2 is ok low to mid but wfo 8k from looks of exhaust may need more. I have tuned many many Harley’s at 13.2 never had one to burn piston or valve. I used be on Harley forum we had lot fun just kicking things around. Learned a lot there and shared lot info hope to do that here.

My bad, I assumed you were talking about the oem exhaust.

I may need to revisit this but it seems running two pioneers side by side wfo up a hill the 13.2 did better. Maybe @snuffnwhisky remembers.

I had all 13.2 but 13.0 from 80% throttle up and then changed to all 13.2. We tried to dyno tune two rigs but couldn’t get it to shift with the front wheels not rolling.

Here map that came in power commander. Then map after tune

Think I got it tuned in very good. I compared the exhaust temps to my son n laws yamaha after both machines were rode same distance them at idle the honda hmf muffler was 154 degrees his stock muffler was around 475. Shot honda pipe about 2 feet before entering muffler was around 475. His Yamaha pipe was over 1450 degrees. I think he have power commander soon.

I did and it didn't like it. 13.1 - 13.2 seemed best. 5 deg advance max. I would run 93 gas if your adding timing with big tires.
I played with accel pump, I could'nt tell it helped, it got to throwing codes so decide to leave it alone. So I bumped timing up some started tuning. Over all I am impressed how much better it performs with just exhaust, tune & filter. It will burn rubber in first 3 gears. Just kidding LOL

Have you tried adding any more timing? On 93 octane I am up to 6-7 degrees. Haven’t tried more...
