P500 Air filter

Was planning on doing a cleaning but to me looks OK. I'm new to this so if I'm way off please chime in.

I know l know. Sorry for the dumb question but I'm OCD.
Friday you'll see I ain't that bad.
Gets worse with age.

I read the book and not due until the next service. It looks good to me, but it's the first time I've inspected one.

I would clean it every 500 miles if ran in dusty conditions like farm / ranch use, Typical trail riding may be able to go 1000 miles. I never got that many miles in a year and usually just clean mine annually. Hopefully that changes with retirement plan on logging many more miles

Looks good to me,with a windshield the filter gets a lot dirtier even if you ride by yourself. Mine is really dirty after 600 miles with winter ridding.

what do you have to loose by cleaning it? I looked at your pics and saw the light dust in there, that means it has got to the filter also, although your filter isn't caked with crud it still has picked up the fine dirt. I bought a extra foam element for mine, every 500/600 miles I just swap them out, clean the dirty one and place it in a zip'lock bag til the next time, i think its a good insurance policy IMO.
