Hi fellow Honda drivers.
My wife Gayle and I finally bought a SxS yesterday, and took it for it's first ride on our 108 acre hilltop forest here in Oregon.
We were both impressed with this Pioneer 1000-5d, to say the least.
All the recent talk about "burnt clutches" doesn't scare me a bit, with how we plan to use this Honda.
As an understatement, I have a lot of Honda off-road vehicles, and they've all been most excellent.
We're looking forward to many years of pleasure giving rides in this machine to friends and family all over our forest...

Got it home and drove it the mile up to our hilltop airstrip...It fits me really well..

Gayle likes how easy it is to drive. The dogs love it too...

Some friends came over today to cut some firewood...we took a break and went for a ride. Everyone had a good time...

Welcome, I was originally born in Oregon, still have family in Vancouver, WA and Hood River/Mt. Hood Area. Would love to get my Pioneer up there in the cascades some day, but probably wont ever happen, sadly enough.

How are the OHV trail systems up there? I assume they are heavily restricted, Oregonian's sure are proud of their forests.

Hi amc,
I feel very lucky to live in such an awesome place.
My main hobbies are dirtbiking (crf250r Hondas) and flying small planes, and working/playing on my little 108 acre hilltop forest. Most of my dirtbiking nowdays is on my own property and the private forest land (not open to the public) that borders the east side of my place, so I'm really spoiled. I know there are tons of great riding areas East of the Cascades, but I don't plan on going there with our new side by side.

Here's an aerial photo of my riding area. The white spot in the lower left is my homesite area, and the green grassy patch middle left is my little landing strip where the photos of our pioneer were taken yesterday.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Here's a little video clip I took with my i-pad camera a while back that you might enjoy.
It's my brother Bob driving a special teryx4 (one 40 hp electric motor per wheel) on my hilltop airstrip. I did most of the welding on this special one-off proof-of-concept prototype.

That's one of the coolest things I've seen. Gotta love how quick the power gets to the wheels.

Independent motors on each tire, simple reverse the polarity. want to turn tight, have one side forward and the opposite in reverse just like a catapillar dozer.

I get that but that means he has controls for each wheel. That thing is really cool! It can be operated like a skidsteer
