How well do the stock factory tires perform in snow?

I will be using my P1K5 for ice fishing this winter and I’m a bit worried about the tire performance on ice and deep snow based on some driving I’ve done in sand.

I know I could go tracks but would prefer not doing so.

I had GBC dirt tamers on my Ranger....they were pretty good for ice fishing plus plowing snow.

Just trying to gauge if I should replace now or let the money tree grow a bit. Still have to get side doors and a heater this fall.

I would think the stock tires would do fine, I never had a complaint about traction, I kept busting the 4 ply front tires & 8 ply tires. If you do buy different tires, get 8 ply's and larger tires for the front, think there's some guys doing that on the forum with stock rims????

They actually ran good in everything. (Never ran sand) I got 1200 miles on them before I changed. People complain that they were terrible but I used them two seasons with snow. Most of the time I was loaded with wood or something else.

It depends if it's a deluxe model or base model. The base model had better tires they are 6 ply.

The big horns and dirt tamers are pretty darn close in design. Both look badass on any rig.
I've got a set of ITP Black Waters that I really like on the trails but they are rough riding on pavement at low speed and don't wear well on pavement. Probably the best trail tire I've had.

I’ve heard good things about them. Have you had them out in below 0 weather?

I’ve read on more than tire that cold weather really shortens the side wall life of the tire ( like bogger tires).

I’d estimate that with auger, 20lb propane cylinder plus misc gear I’d have at most 200 lbs of gear plus a couple hundred lb sled in tow.

I don't know about the below 0 wear on tires, in my life time so far we've only had two weeks solid below 0. My balls didn't come down till late spring! HA! And we had a 24 inch frost line, our usual is 10 to 12 inches. And how a bout an invite for ice fishing, I've always wanted to do that! And I have always been a Viking fan!

Deal! If your ever up my way send me a IM!

We bury all our utilities at 4’ minimum. Some years that’s barely enough.

SD isn’t even as cold as our neighbors to the north!
