The winch and off road lights are directly related to each other- in that they contribute to an increased electrical load over stock. Which necessitates a larger battery for your auxiliary needs.
Correct but they have nothing to do with CCA. The stator picks up most if not all the load unless the machine isn't running. Then it comes down to AH (amp hours). You can have a huge deep cycle battery that has a ton of AH and crap for CCA. A Li jump pack the size of your phone has 600+ CCA but won't run a constant load very long. Again, accessory demands and CCA's have very little to do with each other.

Ok so if what you are saying is true then folks can leave the stock battery alone as long as the vehicle is running and everyone like this op will be good to go. So YOU tell the guy he can just skip his plans for a 2nd battery! LOL
In most cases, yes. I added a second battery yrs ago due to snow plowing with heavy winch use and an over the top stereo system. That way if it's pulling more than the stator produces then it starts drawing from a larger bank of power. High CCA doesn't do anything in this scenario. I never tell anyone what to do, just try to inform and give good advice. 👍

The stock battery in a pioneer 500 is basically worthless imho. Even if you leave the vehicle stock, you will want someday to jump the vehicle, or jump another vehicle. If so, you will need a larger battery, mounted under the driver seat. It works great, you wont replace the battery near as often, and it actually makes the vehicle run better- the computer and ignition system and starter all needs a battery better (more cca) then the stock one. No question about this. Whether you add a 2nd one is optional. IMHO.

be carefull, not sure about running better or stock battery is junk -it’s just your opinion - I need a dyno sheet to prove how much better it runs as this would be cheap HP!!!!

be safe, ride on and happy new year

Most people's needs with a second battery are longevity under load. Focus then turns towards wanting a higher mAh rating.
CC rating is not a concern.

I am assuming here that people use agm batteries for a replacement battery or for a secondary battery. When I go to any store in my area of Texas, or in Kansas for that matter- there are 2 main types of agm batteries- deep discharge- to my understanding these are only used as trolling batteries for electric boat motors. Are they also used as secondary batteries? Are they rated by using mAh? I guess it would make sense because a secondary battery would not be used for starting the vehicle.

The other battery is a regular vehicle starting battery- and they are rated by cca. So if you are replacing your stock battery you would need a battery rated by cca. If you are getting a secondary battery - you get a deep discharge type battery? Is that your point?

Different needs. Different things.

For me, with a second battery. I want to have lights and radio on for hours. Outside of winching, normal usage 10 or so amps. Key-off, setting up camp, hunting, farming, hours at a time without concern my primary is going dead. mAh is my focus.

For you. You mentioned jumping other machines as a piority. For that yes CC may be your focus.

Good information Sir.

Reading between the lines , and in later posts; the OP indicated his health was his biggest issue. It’s my belief that the OP was wanting to put all the odds in his favor in the case of an emergency.

He also stated he would like to add more accessories at a later date.

His original question was about mixing types of batteries. ie. lead acid, AGM, Lithium

Believe that was addressed early on. Why are we beating a year old thread ?

Sorry NH✌️, my fault. Felt the need to make sure the thread ended on sound advice.
