Is that going into generic aluminum? Steel? Stainless Steel?

Wheels are aluminum, bolts are dissimilar steel.

My beadlocks were 17ftlbs on the ring.

Did I miss something? Why are you guys going to bead locks?

Well, beedlocks will give you a little extra protection on the bead as well as if you do have a flat it will not let the tire run off the rim. That could come in handy on some of my rides when I'm 30-40 miles from camp. But I do carry a small compressor and plugs. So maybe there is no real reason except for the just in case and I think they look cool.

They allow you to run very low air pressure and not spin the tire off the rim I got mine because of the weight of the pioneer my sti 15" torque at 20 ft pounds
