Many licks about in these parts. Licks are water features high in salt and other trace minerals which were used for medicinal purposes. Most of these were spa type areas before modern medicine. Salt Lick, May's Lick, Flat Lick, Mud Lick, Paint Lick, Beaver Lick, Knob Lick, Blue Lick, Pope Lick, Log Lick, Sulphur Lick and Big Bone Lick. Most of these were destination points for the wealthy who suffered from respiratory and various other ailments. I'm guessing some of you would prefer Big Bone Lick. I'd be at Beaver Lick. Across the border into Southern Indiana, there is French Lick. There is also a town in Germany known as Baden Baden. It too is a Lick and known for healing waters. It's also known for its Casinos. French Lick Indiana once was a Casino as well
