Looking for a compact impact driver for changing tires? But they seem to powerful for the torque needed to remove/install. Is there one that the torque is adjustable? I think the Honda recommended torque specs are 80lbs?

The talon and pioneer 1000 Honda recommends 98lbs for torque.
I have a 1/2” medium duty dewalt impact. Overkill for the Honda but also works on my f250. (165lbs) I think on high (3 settings ) it’s rated at 300lb and more for take off. It’s not giant but it is big. I like the lower setting for installing. They also sell a 3/8” version a little smaller and less power. Use a 2amp battery and it’s pretty compact also.

My Ryobi 3 speed 1/2 drive is pretty compact and does a great job. #1 is about 40 lbs, #2 is just about perfect at around 80 lbs. and #3 is around 120 and breaks lose stubborn lug nuts.

If you're already invested in a particular tool/battery combo, I'd go with that. I already had a few 20v DeWalt cordless tools so it was a no brainer for me to buy a 3/8" drive DeWalt bare tool impact wrench. The torque isn't adjustable but you can tease the trigger. For tightening I give it a few ugga duggas then follow up with a torque wrench. The specs are similar between the 3/8" wrenches so they should all do the job with ease.

Where did you come up with the 98 ft lbs of torque? My Pioneer requires 80 ft lbs.

I use the Milwaukee 3/8 M12 compact stubby and it does great! It has 3 settings on it. It's really small but has lots of power. It works great on trail repairs and in the shop. I have their mini aircompressor with M12 setup also. Those go with me everywhere from work to trails with me!

I have the 3/8 M18 Fuel with 4 torque setting, a little bigger, but still small enough.

I 2nd the 3/8" M12 Fuel stubby. I bought a cheap Pelican style case from Harbor Freight that I keep it in with an extra battery and the sockets needed for the Pioneer.

I'm going to guess that the 1000 is like the 700 in that the aluminum wheels are 80 ft lbs, while the steel wheels go to 98 ft lbs.
I prefer the 2 or 3 ugga dugga regardless of wheel. Haven't lost one yet! We should ask @Frogtown what he uses to put his wheels on since he literally had one fall off at TO 🤣. Probably the funniest thing I've ever seen on the trail.

See post 15. Manual doesn’t give options just says 98lbs.

That manual contains a contradiction/bad conversion/misprint.

108 n-m = 11 kgf-m or 80 ft-lb. Not 13.6 kgf-m or 98 ft-lb.
I've got a Pioneer manual that's missing like 4 or 5 pages. Not ripped out, just not there. Drove me nuts one day when I was looking for something and couldn't find it. After about 3 times back and forth I figured out the page I needed was missing lol

Yup, it is a misprint. For reference, same "Maintenance" page/area from a current Talon Service Manual with the correct conversion...
