I am also looking at the XTR370s. The weight has me second guessing. I like the looks of most of the west coast tires but I need something that will do well in muddy/slick terrain of the east coast without going to a full mud terrain tire.
Weight is a bigger issue at speed, where the suspension has to deal with the higher unsprung weight. If your speeds are more sedate in tight woods riding, a heavy wheel/tire will be less of an issue than a desert runner. Some of the low speed rock crawlers put water in their tires for the additional traction provided.

Mongrels look the same as Terrabites with out the sidewall tread? How do they not throw gravel too? Thanks
I don’t know for sure if they’ll be better, but I received the Mongrels today, and as I suspected, even though the tread pattern is similar to the Terrabites, the tread lugs ar bigger and spaced a little further apart so I hope they’ll be good all the way around and better about not throwing so much gravel.

Thanks! I agree, I ordered them over the weekend. I will report back after I test them out.

ITP Terra Hooks have worked great for me. Also weight the same as Carnivores.

I have the 32" blackwaters and love them. I have them on the ITP SD Beadlocks and haven't had any problems out of them. The Talon R pulls them just fine. The only thing I don't like is the offset. I'm at like 73" total width in the front. I couldn't find a good beadlock in the 6-1 offset so it was the only good option I could get at the time.

Good to hear other than that width 😬 turning radius already sucks let’s make it wider too right lol 5-2 all the way around is what you’re running or?

I mounted my xtr370s 32x10-15 yesterday. FYI the rear tires rub the shock/shock mounts when the suspension is at full droop. I have plenty of clearance at normal ride height.

Wow, yours is the first report I've read of 32s rubbing on the back of the X or the R. Interesting. I'm running 4/3 wheels with 1.5 inch spacers on the back so I'm good. But still get slight rub on the front of my X4. Those tires look particularly big on your rig. Looks great.

Thanks! I actually think others with 32s have the same issue but it goes unnoticed. When the rear tires are completely off the ground is the only time contact is made. My buddy pointed it out when I was mounting the wheel otherwise I wouldn't have noticed.

So I ended up going with the MRT Race 30x9-15 up front and MRT Dual Threat 30x10-15 in the rear. These are on my stock wheels. I wanted to keep it as close to stock geometry as possible with this setup. I have not made it on a trail yet, but I am going to be at Royal Blue in a little over a week and will now for sure. But on gravel roads they handled much better than stock and didn't have as drastic of a hit to power as I was expecting. These are a fairly light setup but pretty pricey too. So far they feel fast and responsive in the corners with good grip coming out of it. Looking forward to trying them in Tennessee!

On a quick check they run a 1/2-3/4" smaller than the claimed 30" size. The backs being closer to 29.5 and fronts closer to 29.25, both with 15 psi in them.

I'm considering those in 30" for my p1k-5. They look awesome on your machine.

Curious what your mounted height is and psi?
Also how well they do in mud?

Thanks.
I think the mounted height was around 32 1/8 inches with 12 pounds in each tire. So they measure true to size if not bigger. They did great in the mud this weekend! I was following a defender on BKTs and could go anywhere he went.

We sell bunchs of different tires from our shop here in WV, and after talking to customers who run different tires in our area (mostly outlaw trails and Hatfield McCoy trails) we sell 3 to 1 M1 Evils I have them on my Talon R in 32-10x15 and love them for the life of the tire. But the carnivores are next on the list but draw back is the 3/4 tread depth compared to the 1" on the M1s.... also have a big demand for black waters and big horns. But M1's seem to be the tire most used in our area.
