I found a couple of old posts on this topic, but was wondering if anybody had any more information after having the machines longer. My brakes have started squealing really bad. It seems kind of soon to need pads at only 600 miles. Anybody have any experience with this? Are there any aftermarket pads available? I found pads for the 700 for pretty cheap but can only find the OEM for the 1000. Also, how difficult are they to replace? Anyone have pictures of the process?

@Delton just posted about finding worn brakes on his I think he's just over 1200 miles. Maybe he's got some good information.

My brakes are down to the metal with 3-400 miles. But I do ride fairly aggressively most times and like to play in the mud. I think my solid steel wheels keep the dirt packed around the brakes.

Didn't someone a couple months back say something about the bigred pads working? Or was that on the p500 section?

U have 900 miles on my 2016 1000-5 and brakes or like new. I ride hard through mud and a lot of gravel roads. No issues.

700 and 500 are the same pad I believe, so it must have been for that.

That I wasn't aware

3 were very thin and 1 was almost down to metal (didn't stop me from blocking the caliper and riding today anyhow lol).
They are child's play to replace. 2 bolts hold caliper to the holder (12mm socket/wrench). Remove caliper and squeeze piston back into caliper. This can sometimes be done by hand. If not, C-clamp or vise grips work. The pads can then be pryed out of the holder with a small screwdriver. Eezy peezy.

I'm just shy of 1000 miles. Guess I better check mine.

We just got back from Coalmont. 1491 miles. Friggin pads are expensive!!! Around 120 bucks for full set

That's $.10 a mile in brakes. Does seem pricey

160 bucks for full set is what I paid. Somebody suggested Babbits for a better price. Check with them. I still can't believe aftermarket hasn't caught up yet. P500's can be had for 20 bucks. Ridiculous.

Saw this post in another thread that you made, but hoped I stalled long enough and there would be aftermarket available:(
