Is there such a thing as a small portable heater that can be plugged into the power outlet in the cab. If this is a stupid question ....sorry. Never had a use for one so never thought of it.

If there isn’t one ...why not? If there is such a heater can someone post some links. Also if there is such a product why aren’t they used?

Most portable heater that plug into 12v don't do much and ones that are hard wired draw too much power

No amp draw would be about what the winch is to generate the same amount of heat that you’d get from a coolant to air heat exchanger.

4396w/12v=366amps which is more than a winch.

Most of the cab heaters are in the 15000 btu range.

Electric is incredibly inefficient heat.

You have waste heat from inefficient internal combustion process, better to utilize something that is in abundance.

Hard cab, soft doors, lots of gaps no insulation.

27,000 btu heater would just barely keep it toasty in 20degree weather.

Has anyone actually used one of these heaters?
If you’re talking about the heater that works off the machines coolant we just used ours last weekend. We also have the soft upper doors and it worked pretty good at 32 degrees. Doesn’t roast you out but keeps you comfortable. Sealing up a few more air leaks would help.

When I fished year around, I used a propane double burner infa red heater in the boat and night fished. Until you fired it up, you had to tie it down, but fire it up and the tank would sweat and freeze to the floor and you could run under power with heater on and it wouldn't move, talk about hillbilly engineering. Worked great! Thinking about something like that for our S x S

In the winter I pipe my Bilge blower to a hole in the center of the plastic below the seat. when the engine heats up it works well. Now I need a diverter to deflect left and right toward my knees.

I use this 150w heater as a defroster. It feels about as warm as a 150w light bulb.
It keeps the drivers side of the windshield clear of fog, frost and snow without a cab. I've used down to 15 F

IS there a reason no one uses a golf cart style propane heater? These things aren’t sealed that well to be concerned with carbon dioxide. Especially if you are in and out adjust plow or even moving, i have enough drafts that i am not worried about it.

Propane is actually a flame, if it falls over and get the plastic or your clothes/skin it’s gonna do some damage quickly.

Maradyne Santa Fe Auxiliary Heaters HC-400012

I ordered one of these for my 1000. I’ve got some leftover ¼” HDPE I’m going to make a mount out of. The radiator hose runs conveniently enough to maximize heat and minimize distance to the heater. No flame heat is only as great as coolant temp so no chance of Fire or chance of running out of heater fuel.

I don't run upper doors or full windshield, I need something infra red.

Let me ask this question. If the heat product improvement “recall” isn’t done is the heat from the engine in an enclosed cab sufficient to keep someone warm?
