Coldest start. Didn’t have to ride, but would be interesting comment if you did. (One for @PistonHonda)

Started so hard I had to use a jumper box to get it running. Is there a different motor oil for winter activities?

It started just fine at -15 and I did ride a few miles, but I must admit it was only because I had to feed and water cattle and check fence otherwise I’d be on the inside looking out lol.

-25 was a no go for me, mine started at -20 while in an unheated garage on a battery tender.

While on a battery tender in an unheated garage mine started at -30F on the second try.
I rode for an hour dragging trails with a cold smile!

-20 here. Didn't stay out riding very long though.
(definitely have to take the seat heat shield out!)

If it were air cooled I’d say change oil weight but it’s liquid cooled so I don’t know that it would give you that much advantage. You could try I 5w30, not sure if it would be worth changing your oil though, it should warm up a touch soon.

That sounds more like battery than oil...batteries do not like it when it is that cold!

Today I was looking for a battery with a higher CCA but no luck yet.

I just replaced my battery 2 week ago. It was only 2 years old. Mine would crank the motor but the voltage would drop too far and not start. I looked at every website I could and could not find a bigger battery (AH or CCA). I replaced it with one from Batterymart And it has started like a champ even when it was -15 out at the fish house. If you don't use the same OEM battery you have to "flatten" the connectors on the ends of the cables.

Do you have the Honda doors or aftermarket? I’m on the fence about buying a set.

-15f when I started it, had been -25f that morning. It's parked in my neighbors unheated pole barn. Just wanted to see if it'd start, it did just like summer. I let it idle for 20 mins or so, temp was up to 2 bars then I shut it down. Didn't ride, that's what the SkiDoos are for ;)

honda doors, found a used set on here for a great deal.
That’s a good deal, are they worth it? They are the only thing I need to have my cab enclosed. Any pros or cons? Durability? Thanks for the info.

they are very well made with heavy fabric and windows, a little cumbersome to take on and off until you get the hang of it. I have been bow hunting a lot the past couple weeks and the doors were a lifesaver getting to and from the stand, temps were -5 to 12 above.

Are they work what Honda wants for them I don't know but I do love them, I got mine used for $175. For sure worth what I paid for them.

Well I guess I’m going to start hunting for a set, if I can’t find a good used set, I’ll bite the bullet and buy new. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
