P1000 Cooler tie down setup

got a lot of messages about my new cooler setup. Figured I’d post here and not crowd someone else’s thread. These were not my idea but I can’t find the thread that gave me the idea. The guy bought the anchor setup at a Home Depot. Listed below is everything I used including the brackets for the tailgate to lay flat. Cooler moves from gate to bed depending how many people are riding with us

That’s really cool and a good idea to make your own thread with this. I’m not near either Pioneer this week and I’m curios about how solid the tailgate is at the two points you installed the quick release tie downs?

Also, are the cooler security locks germane to all upper end ice chests, or are those specific for your brand of chest, which is quite funny I’ll add...

Tailgate does flex some there but not enough to bother anything I don’t think. The tailgate will still pivot up and down as cooler is still about 1.5” from hitting the rear of seat. If it’s an issue I will reinforce the gate but I have had my Yeti 45 mounted on gate for several hard mud rides with no issue but was tied down a different way.

The lock bracket is universal to roto molded coolers as long as they have the tie down slot. I own several different brands and they all have them but sure there are some that don’t.

The new red one is Cold Bastard brand. I have Pelican, Yeti, Ozark and RTIC coolers. The Cold Bastard is built as good if not better than all of those and it’s much cheaper than Yeti or Pelican. Also get a lot of extras included with it.

Changed setup a little for the larger cooler to get weight off the tailgate. The front tie down holds probably 80% of the force and the rear one is just snugged up to keep it from moving. Big cooler got very heavy when loaded and was worried about gate. Will still use the other way with the smaller cooler. Even added drink holders on each side for when BS’ing around the back. Still able to remove cooler or relocate it to inside bed within a minute or two.
