P1000 Dump Box

Well I found something that I see needs improvement. The Dump Box shock is not enough. I have owned many Rangers and I could sit in the seat and reach back and hit the lever and give it a slight assist and be able to dump a pretty heavy load like wood logs.

Well I use the pioneers for the first time today. Had some old Stray in the back. About a bail and a half of small bails. The lever is in a good spot . pulled the lever and it did nothing... The Ranger would have just dumped that light of a load. I had to give it allot of assist. So I decided to dump it with nothing in it and same result. Pretty disappointed in the shock. I will be looking into a heavier one soon.

I've thought about this before for my P700. Still may look into it. Most manufacturers of those things list the dimensions and lifting force on their website.

Now we need to see if the 700 and 1000 use the same one....ill check mine later.

I believe it's because the pivot for the dump bed is farther back...much farther...than the Rangers. Mine is already hard enough to close, I doubt you'll get a shock with enough oomph to make a difference due to the pivot location.

Seems this is by design as the 1000 will not self dump either! With a slight lift it works great.
The 1000 does have a different shock. It looks to be longer then what I remember on the 700.
Best option would be a actuator.

That looks good.....pull the latch, flip a switch in your panel and dumper away.

While we're on the topic has anyone seen or rigged up a safety setup for say if you were transporting people in the bed? Wait...that MAY be why the pivot is so far back. So the 5 seaters aren't prone to dunping people out if the latch came undone?

On my P700 the bed dump lever is locked when the seats are up. I guess one could dump people while they were in the bed with the seats down though.

Here is the stock P700 air spring. Is it the same as a 1000?

7aeb7a27cf06bbbffdf9b070c2411475

It's 670N which is 150lb of force. I can't find the part number though when searching google. It must be a special made for Honda.

That one is 202lb of force. It would be a good upgrade for the P700 if they have the same dimensions.

It's in Newtons and must be converted for me to understand it.

900 newtons = 202 lb

What is the retracted length nd the length of the stroke of that gas cylinder? I know they make some small hydraulic cylinders 1" diameter that lift 1000 pounds quickly using only a 12v hydraulic pump. much much faster than an electric screw drive.

Here is the longest 19.5" with a 14" stroke for $86:
Welded Swivel Mount - Hydraulic Cylinders - Dalton Hydraulic

Here is the shortest 11.25long with a 4" stroke for $75:
Welded Swivel Mount - Hydraulic Cylinders - Dalton Hydraulic

These can be had in 2" increments for stroke and length, I am sure one could be retrofitted with a small hydraulic pump for those that would use a dump beds repeatedly daily: Dump Feed, Landscaping, gravel, firewood, mother in laws, etc.

202 lbs. of fig newtons are about 6,500. Yeah I have waaay too much time on my hands. But at least I'm well fed :p
