Are you having problems with it? The last I heard, E15 was allowed to be sold, but not required. I have not seen any here in central Oklahoma. I would guess that about a third of the stations here still offer pure gas, and all have E10, A few have E85. On the other hand there is no shortage of "F tards" around here.

I tried it out the other day at the local Sheetz instead of my regular 87 I normally get. I know that it's only 5% more ethanol and it is cheaper per gallon, but my fuel mileage dropped about 2mpg with just that change. Truck went from an average cost of $0.18/mi to $0.20/mi.

Nice try, Biden, but like the rest of your ideas, this one is also f***ing dumb.

This was my take on ethanol in fuel about a week ago in the thread about water in fuel that turned to ethanol:

Ethanol is a politics-based sham and would be outlawed if those in charge put common sense first. The stuff is less efficient (may increase power slightly), increases food prices, and is harmful in a lot of ways, especially to small engines/carburetors or if stored for any period of time (decide for yourself if this sham is related to the early primary states that are big corn producers...).

Interestingly, even the green folks are now saying adding ethanol is a net negative for the environment, yet it persists. On top of that, our government is currently talking about doing away with the summer restrictions on its use "to save people money at the gas pump." Those summer restrictions were because of smog concerns...what a sham!

Anyway, rather than listening to me just rant on and on about it, here is a "Project Farm" Youtube video about ethanol in gas and the effectiveness of various stabilizers. Project Farm has some great content on a number of subjects:

No idea, goal, plan, policy, or program of the leftists/liberals/socialists has ever done what they claimed it would or been a been a success.

All ideas of the left are for the purpose of transferring wealth from those who earned it to the elites or the morons who will vote for them.

Love me some PF.

I saw a video on the YT's (Engineering Explained, I think) that goes into ethanol and whether or not it is beneficial for the environment. Long story short, as you said, it's not. If we started tilling up enough land to plant corn to make enough ethanol to replace fossils, we would immediately release massive quantities of CO2 that are captured within the soil. That immediate release would be far worse for the environment than just burning fossils to begin with.

To locate ethanol-free gasoline near your home enter "ethanol-free gas" in your search engine.

I live in rural east central Wisconsin, most of my friends are cash croppers. Big cash croppers, beans and corn. I was with one yesterday and we where just talking about this yesterday. He was smiling ear to ear because he knows it's gonna be good for the farm but he hates all the crap that goes wrong with this sh#T gas.

Can't blame the farmers for growing and selling their crops. Corrupt politicians created the ethanol disaster to buy the votes of farmers, the people of the mid-west who work in the ethanol industry, and pay off the big ethanol company donors who bribe them.

If memory serves me right, I’m 99% sure it was started during the Bush administration to decrease our reliance on foreign oil and give farmers more money and create more jobs. Plus it’s was continued by every government since. So I’m not sure what this has to do with left/right politics.
With gas being so expensive now, due to the war or whatever conspiracy theory is popular this week, I feel like supply of ethanol in fuel should be lowering the cost of gas right now, but that’s just based on my opinion.

Most science publications I’ve read have denied any environmental benefit to ethanol since the early 00’s. It was always pushed as an extra supply of fuel.
But like most people here, I hate the stuff and never let it near any of my machines especially my pioneer.

First off, Bush was a rhino so anything he was doing was based on swamp politics not in our best interest. Will get that out of the way.

As for left or right, dam right it is. The left (Biteme)shut down Keystone witch made us pretty much dependent on foreign oil/energy dependent oil wise. we where in the US prior since 16'. They did this to push there "no fossil fuel agenda" to push Hybrid/electric and say bye to the internal combustion engine. Pushing more ethanol drives down oil production which makes prices higher which plays in the lefts strategy to drive people and manufactures away from oil/gas.

Yes war has contributed to the rise of prices cuz were NOW dependent on foreign oil AGAIN! So I say the environmentalist wackos need to get there head out of the sand and quit clinging onto man made global warming and with a stroke of a pin like Biteme did to shut it down, open Keystone back up and put us back where we were!! Plane and simple!

"...it was started during the Bush administration to decrease our reliance on foreign oil..."

That's the irony of it. Ethanol actually decreases mileage by more than the percentage of ethanol added -- which increases the overall amount of petroleum consumed. It's just a scam to cozy up to the Corn Lobby. Ethanol harms the environment, increases overall costs (even if the price per gallon is slightly lower) and damages equipment -- especially small and off-road engines.

I remember in late ‘87 having to chose between ethanol mixed gas and whatever the other additive was in winter months that was supposed to cut down the smog produced in cities. Seems like that was about the same time that lead in gas was being eliminated.
