Awesome, that’s not too far off and we’re going to be doing an overlander each year…stay tuned. 😊I would love to join you guys. It's been my dream to make it out west. 3 more years, then retirement. Maybe then. Until then, I live through the ride reports and pictures
Sounds like a great option. Probably 2 hrs less driving for people coming by the southern route.New trailhead staging area for a southern start at Quartzite at I-10 and SH 95…..👍
New OHV staging area opens in Quartzsite
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19 for the new off-highway vehicle staging area in Quartzsite. Lynda Goldberg of La Paz Regional Tourism invited thewww.parkerpioneer.net
ThE group I ride with use GMRS radios 15-40 watt. A few still use the 5-7 watt handhelds and they just don’t get out far enough.I am planning on getting a two way radio for the Peace trail ride. What is the best radio for group rides with the Honda SXS rides?

The only things I needed to be legal above and beyond what comes on the Honda is a license plate (from any state) license plate light, horn and a rear view mirror. Arizona no longer has reciprocity with other states for OHV stickers, so that’s another $25. If camping on state trust lands, a permit is required. I think it is another $25 for a family. You don’t need it for driving on state trust areas, only for camping. I don’t know about the AZPT area, but I’ve never seen a game & fish officer on any of my rides in the eastern part of the state.Sure, it’s a legal plate issued to you by the state. We got them for the Rimrocker trail we all just did from Montrose Colorado to Moab Utah…..
But yes you’ll still need to meet AZ’s street legal status….
Hmmmm, first I heard of that. Can you possibly research that there and confirm this?? 😎If camping on state trust lands, a permit is required. I think it is another $25 for a family.
I’m pretty sure that the entire group will always or nearly always be within that range of one another the whole route. So I think you’re right there should be no problem. The TYT 8600 is a nice little radio for the money ($125.00) and it’s size is suited to a SXS…Gentlemen, the first thing that will be needed before everyone goes out a buys a new radio is what frequency’s are we going to use. If people buddy up, you won’t need a 25 mile range. Lots of groups in AZ use GMRS radios. Other parts of the country may use CB’s and then there are the guys with Ham license. If you’re riding with a buddy you don’t really need a range over 2-3 miles.
