For those of you that use your sxs around for farm use what are your oil change timetables. The honda tech said 1200 miles or 200hrs.I tend to agree with him.I just ck'd i average about 3.5 miles a hr. I know that is pitiful but thats the truth .Just dont get behind me.

Yeah, you'd definitely want to think about hours, not miles.

A lot of factors go into the 200 hour interval, it's a one-size-fits-all number. Manufacturers are going to put it on the "way safe" side. Your conditions may vary. Major factors would be heat and the amount of dust in your environment.

If you want to get technical, you can have your oil lab tested after a 200 hour change in your normal operating conditions, and see how your oil is holding up. It's only $30something.

Mine is also almost all farm use. I do oil changes by the hours and not miles as it always hits the hour mark long before the miles. Another good reason to have accessories connected to a second battery. Don’t need to ring up hours when I can run a work light off the second battery with the ignition off.

Good call, my initial thought was "isn't it 100 hours?" but I just went with it because I haven't looked it up in a long time. It is 100 hours.

I go by miles.

We change all our smaller engines, gas or diesel at 100 hrs or less. Oil is cheap and we have had very few engine failures in over 50yrs farming.

Well i was going by what the honda tech said. The book is not very clear unless you look very closely. It shows a ck at 600 miles and 100 hrs and a change at 1200 miles or 200 hrs .A ck at 1800 miles and 300 hrs and a change at 2400 miles and 400 hrs. This comes from the service manual under Replace engine oil and filter.Trust me not trying to step on anyones toes here.I just know here i need to go by hours.I am glad it has a hour meter or i would be lost.

I’m not a real farmer (I work a day job so my wife can support her pet steaks).
But I noticed some of my neighbors latch on to one oil and it goes in every thing.
SxS wants a wet clutch compatible oil.
Otherwise it sounds like you have a handle on this.
