I just purchased the 2021 1000X 4 with the Fox shocks and Jackson turbo. I’ve now taken it out twice to realize the suspension indicator (normal/sport) is not lit up on my dash. When I toggle the button nothing happens. I just reached out to the dealership today and waiting to hear back from them. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this being an issue. Please let me know. I’m hoping I can get this resolved without taking it in.

When you first turn the key on, ALL the lights on the LV display light up for about 2 seconds as a test (like pictured below). Is yours doing that or is it always blank?...

Yes they all light up for 2 seconds.
That rules out the light panel. Unfortunately I do not have a LV service manual (or a LV for that matter) so I am shooting in the dark. Lets start with the basics...

  • Check all the fuses.
  • Tighten your battery cables (this is a common problem).
  • Make sure the grounds are clean and tight (this is another common problem). There is a bunch under the driver seat, one on the frame below the battery and another on the left side of the engine.
  • Make sure the LV "brain" is completely plugged in and screwed down tight. Not sure if there is a separate ground for this unit or not but look around for one and make sure it is clean tight too. It is under the front cowl above the glove box right under here...

Thanks for your input. I’m going to start with your suggestions to hopefully avoid taking the dashboard apart.
I did download the 2020 Service Manual to find a section troubleshooting the FLV Warning Indicator Circuit. Even though this is not my exact situation, it does troubleshoot the same components and the connections.
Does the normal mode light turn on when the button is pushed and in park? Does the engine need to be running?

The 4 seat LV brain is under the drivers side rear seat. Only the 2 seaters are under the dash panel.

With the indicators turning on at startup, that should rule out the box. Since that is what is running the check for any issues when keyed on. But anything is possible.

Your checklist is a good start though.

After checking the switch on the dash with an ohm meter and confirmed that it is working correctly, I pulled up the backseat to find the SCU was not even plugged in. So I plugged it in, indicators lights came on. Now the FLV indicator light stays on. I jumped the DTC under the front seat with a paper clip. It blinked 6 times. I had no luck erasing the code. If I did erase it, it comes back is e we hat I’m figuring. Anyone know what the 6 blinks mean?

SCU (suspension control unit)
DTC (diagnostics trouble code)

This is just a guess but maybe it's code 13. 1 light blink and then 3. If so this might help. I think the dealer might have D/C'ed that because they could'nt figure it out. Maybe Honda tech could chime in.

Well now that you put it like that. It’s 5 blinks 1 light blink. That would be code 51 I’m guessing which is Steering angle sensor CAN communication fault.

The steering angle sensor has caused others’ problems IIRC.

IT’S FIXED. The steering angle sensor was also not plugged in. Just like the SCU. After I plugged everything in I did the steering angle sensor initialization the last blinks were supposed to be 3 times but for me it only did 1. All indicators are on. The warning indicator is off. I just took a spin around the neighborhood in sport mode. Definitely feel the difference. Totally stoked to take out on my next trip to experience the benefits. I took pictures of my homemade jumper below. I actually tried to purchase the tool but it’s unavailable at my location. Thanks for all the help and support!
