I’ll keep my good old 5.0 thanks it does the job just fine and I have never averaged below 14 mpgView attachment 131801

I’d be curious to see how it pulls our enclosed work trailer. I average 8.5-9.0. The powerstroke in the fleet was about 9.0-9.5. We never hooked the 5.0 to it.

Here’s a 287b we used to have. 10,500 plus 3500lb trailer. It was too much for a half ton to tow often but it actually handled the load well.

What’s funny is when people go to the quarry and get a load of gravel. Since they scale you out, people then realize what it feels like to haul heavy for a half ton anyway. I had a buddy that said he towed 14k with his half ton, turns out maybe he didn’t (his words). I went to the quarry 3 times in one day a while back at 18k each trip. (I won’t let the trucks on the concrete driveway). That’s the heaviest I ever tow and it feels heavy too. I wouldn’t use a half ton for that anymore than just across town a few times a year.

18k with an F150 is loaded... I borrowed a crew cab F250 with a 6.2 from work once and crossed the scale at 29,000 with a dump trailer and it was unhappy. We took lighter loads after that, we hauled 120 dump trailer loads that week, the heavy one was a definite oops.
