P1000m5 HardlyWorkin Build

hardlyworkin submitted a new Garage Item:

Hardlyworkin Build

I finally picked up a white deluxe 1000-5 today and the build has commenced. I used to run a Jeep several years ago until I decided they were too expensive to build, too easy to break, and rode too rough. I think this Pioneer should fill the void well and be much more capable.

I have already done 90% of the install on a Superwinch Terra 45SR with a KFI mount. I also have a SuperAtv flip windshield in on its way. I have an Attwood bilge blower left over from an old boat that I may be installing soon if I decide its necessary. Pics to come!

Welcome! I agree with your statement. I used to run "on road" vehicles as off road and it was expensive. The pioneer is made for off road and dang good at it.

Please continue to share. I love the white.

The superwinch and the kfi mount went on really well. Just have to shorten some wiring up to tidy up under the hood.
The windshield was delivered yesterday and is next on the install list.
I took it out along with my brother-in-law with his Wolverine on a pretty decent ride. These machines are awesome! I ran it hard and didn't really have much cab heat so I am going to hold off on installing the bilge fan for now.

SuperAtv flip windshield has been installed. Time to start figuring out how I want to set up a switch panel for winch, lights, etc.

I learned my lesson today about driving one of these without a skid plate. A rock jumped up and bit my floorboard right under my feet. It about gave me a heart attack. Looks like I have to decide on a skid plate set. Sorry for the low quality pictures

I did a ton of research before I bought this thing. So far I love it (besides the weak floorboards).

It can be fixed....

It looks ugly but 1/4" UHMW will stop probably any trail hazard. The 1/2" UHMW trail armor skid is a great addition even though it's an expensive one.

I think I will have to copy this idea along with 1/2" UHMW skid plate.

Just my opinion:

If you do put some wheel well protection, use something thinner than quarter inch. The quarter inch material was more difficult to work and I believe 1/8 inch would be just fine.

I think for now I am just going to repair the current floor damage and add a 1/2" skid plate.
Today I installed longer tailgate cables so the tailgate will lay flat and I took the family out to play in a local creek. My 1.5 year old son absolutely loves riding in this thing!

I have a switch plate, switches, and RAM mount on order. As soon as I put my Foreman 450S back together and sell it I will be ordering a set of 1/2" skid plates and A-Arm guards (dang those things are expensive).

My 2 year old has nearly 1000 miles in the seat if ours. Every time I come home he's dragging me out the door to go ride the "fo fo"
