Hello, I'm JPP44
Greetings from Alabama. I actually got hooked on SXS riding outside Silverton CO this past summer. I came home and decided to buy a Honda after evaluating a number of SXS's. Reliability and the lack of a drive belt were major considerations. When I saw the 1000-5 LE I decided it was perfect for wife, me, dog, and grandchildren. It appears to be financially similar to a boat - a land platform that can consume large amounts of cash after the initial purchase. So far I have added lights and horn to be street legal (although there is no such designation in Alabama), LED light bars front (32") and back (22"), marker lights, LED whips on rear posts, winch, roof, windshield, bed extender, 5 point safety harnesses (after an experienced friend nearly rolled it) and other items that fit nicely in the UPS truck. I am looking for a suitable spare tire mount.
I am putting carpet over the plastic between the seat bottom and seat back to insulate it so my dog does not burn his tail sitting in the middle seat. Our first ride gave new meaning to the term "hot dog".
I have experienced the same heat problems as everyone else. I have a fan coming tomorrow to install. I talked to my dealer today and he told me Honda finally has a recall to install a heat shield in the Pioneer 1000's. He said letters are being mailed to all owners, Some have already received their letters and he has done the retro fit on several units. Now I will run to the mailbox every day until my letter arrives.
Show me the trails!
Here is a little info about me to begin with!
Honda SxS ownership : Yes, this is my first.
I have owned, or currently own the following: ATV
My off-road experience level is: Ez-Rider
My favorite place to ride is: Mostly around North Alabama and Crab Orchard TN
